How did you become interested in Personality Assessment?

After the University, by chance I attended to a Rorschach training in Rome and since that moment I began to be interested in clinical assessment

Tell us about your current job. We are interested in hearing about the different things that people do who work in the area of personality assessment.

My career has mainly been developed in 3 different fields: teaching, psychotherapy and assessment. Since 1999, I have been teaching "Clinical assessment" in the II School of Specialization in Clinical Psychology at the University of Rome "La Sapienza". and in other private Schools of Specialization in Rome. I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist but I mostly work with assessment (clinical, forensic, selection, and career guidance fields). I work especially with performance-based personality tests and above all with the Wartegg Completion Test. Of this test I have created a new methodology of use and interpretation (called CWS, the Crisi Wartegg System) that in Italy is used in many fields of the assessment. Since 2002, Italian Navy, Airforce, and Army use permanently the CWS methodology in their own Selection and Careers Guidance proceedings. In addition, I work as consultant with the Civil Court of Rome and I'm member of the board of the Italian Association for Forensic Psychology.

What are the most interesting and/or meaningful aspects of your job?

By one side, I love teaching because it permits you to be in contact with young colleagues and to lead much research; by the other side, I deeply think that clinical assessment is a first and main step of the psychotherapeutic path.

Tell us how you initially learned about and joined SPA.

Together with the International Society of Rorschach and the American Psychological Association, SPA is in Italy one of the most famous Society. In 2004 I decide to become member and since 2008 I began to attend to its Annual Meetings.

How has SPA impacted or benefited you or your career?

I mainly devoted myself to teaching at the university and to promoting my new Wartegg methodology in the USA. Since my first travel in New Orleans (2008) SPA gave me a warm welcome and helped me to promote my test. But overall to be a member of SPA gave me the chance to meet many many colleagues and friends all united by the common interest and love for the assessment.

As we look forward to SPA's 100th anniversary in 2038, what do you think is important in order for the field of personality assessment to thrive and to benefit others?

Above all, to develop new tools for the assessment of personality.
