Call for Workshops

SPA issues a Call for Workshops in the spring of each year. Please use the on-line form to submit. The deadline for submitting workshop abstract is midnight ET, July 31, 2020.

  • For many years, SPA has sought to accept as many workshop proposals as possible in order to provide maximum choices for our conference attendees. Steady increases in the number of workshop offerings in the last few years, however, has led to SPA conventions presenting too many good workshop choices for any given time slot, resulting in low attendance and even cancellations of some workshops based on our minimum attendance requirements. In an effort to ensure that our workshop offerings are responsive to our members' interests and needs and reflect the most important developments in personality assessment, and to decrease the need for workshop cancellations, we plan to offer fewer workshops in the coming years. To achieve this goal, we will take a more active role in shaping and selecting the workshop offerings. While we will continue an open call for workshop applications and will review each workshop application carefully, we anticipate reducing the total number of workshops presented by roughly half. Please do continue to submit your workshop proposals, but with an awareness that the rate of acceptances will be substantially lower than in the past.
