The purpose of this presentation is to discuss settings in which personality assessment has become common practice but for which there is very little available education, training, or published guidelines. These kinds of settings include (but are not limited to): reality television shows, professional sports teams and leagues, nuclear power plants, federal security clearances, etc.. Conducting assessments in any setting can be difficult, but when there is little information about how the individuals being assessed are “supposed” perform it can be very complicated. The presentation will present insights to a number of these nontraditional settings and a roadmap for working in other settings not discussed here.

Presenter: Ron Stolberg, PhD

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will be able to identify two ethical factors to consider when using assessment in alternative settings.
  2. Identify at least 3 non-patient settings in which personality assessment is commonly used
  3. Develop a roadmap to obtain roles and create batteries for assessment in non-traditional settings
