Professional Bio
Brittany Matthews, Ed.M., M.Phil., is a Doctoral Candidate in the Clinical/Counseling Psychology program at New York University. I am excited to attend the 2025 Society for Personality Assessment Convention as a Diversity Scholarship recipient. My clinical and assessment training has focused on serving diverse and underserved communities, with a strong emphasis on culturally responsive practices and advocacy. In Brooklyn, I provided psychoeducational and neurodevelopmental assessments to children from communities across New York City, focusing on educational advocacy and early intervention needs. I worked with the only neuropsychologist based in a neurology department in New York who accepted Medicaid, providing neuropsychological assessments to adults with neurological conditions such as epilepsy and dementia. I currently provide comprehensive, culturally-informed psychological assessments to veterans in the Atlanta VA Healthcare System and utilize brief assessments to help connect veterans to resources within the system. I have found my life’s work in assessment practice and the SPA Convention has become one of the highlights of my training career. I am grateful for the SPA’s commitment to diversity and the opportunity the Diversity scholarship provides.
