Dr. Paul Arbisi is a staff clinical psychologist at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center and Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Minnesota.
He received his PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Minnesota in 1990. Dr. Arbisi consults with inpatient and outpatient psychiatric teams and conducts disability evaluations for veterans seeking benefits for PTSD. Dr. Arbisi has published extensively on detecting malingering with the MMPI-2 and using the MMPI-2 in psychiatric settings. He has a private practice specializing in disability evaluations and fitness for duty examinations.
Dr. Yossef Ben-Porath is professor of psychological sciences at Kent State University. He received his doctoral training at the University of Minnesota and has been involved extensively in MMPI research for the past 38 years. He is codeveloper of the MMPI-3, MMPI-2-RF, and MMPI-A-RF and coauthor of test manuals, books, book chapters, and articles on the MMPI instruments. Former editor-in-chief of the journals Assessment and Psychological Assessment, Dr. Ben-Porath is a board-certified clinical psychologist (American Board of Professional Psychology-Clinical) whose clinical practice involves supervision of assessments at Kent State’s Psychological Clinic, consultation to agencies that screen candidates for public safety positions, and provision of consultation and expert witness services in forensic cases.
Dr. David Corey is a licensed psychologist with more than 30 years of experience performing high-stakes evaluations of public safety applicants and employees. He is the founding president of the American Board of Police & Public Safety Psychology and a Fellow of the American Psychological Association.
He is board certified in forensic psychology and in police and public safety psychology with the American Board of Professional Psychology. Dr. Corey is licensed in Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, California, Utah, and Arizona.
Dr. Richard Handel is professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Eastern Virginia Medical School. He received his PhD in clinical psychology from Kent State University. He was the recipient of the 2006 Samuel J. and Anne G. Beck Early Career Award from the Society for Personality Assessment and the 2015 Bud Orgel Award for Distinguished Achievement in Research from the Association of Psychologists in Academic Health Centers.
Dr. Handel serves as a consulting editor for Journal of Personality Assessment, Psychological Assessment, and Assessment. He is coauthor of the MMPI-A-RF (Restructured Form).
Dr. Tayla T.C. Lee, PhD, HSPP (she/her/hers) is an Associate Professor of Psychological Science at Ball State University. Dr. Lee received her PhD in clinical psychology from Kent State University and completed post-doctoral training at Indiana University – Bloomington. Dr. Lee’s research investigates cognitive and personality mechanisms influencing externalizing disorders. She also studies psychological assessment processes and instruments, especially the validity of scales from the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory family of instruments (i.e., MMPI-3 and MMPI-A-RF). Dr. Lee is an associate editor for the Journal of Personality Assessment and a consulting editor for Assessment and the Journal of Clinical Psychology in Medical Settings. Dr. Lee teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in psychopathology, psychological assessment, and quantitative methods. She routinely conducts professional workshops in these areas, as well. Dr. Lee has extensive clinical experience in psychological assessment of adolescents and adults. She is a licensed psychologist in the state of Indiana and maintains a private practice conducting forensic assessments.
Dr. Ryan Marek, is an Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology at Sam Houston State University. He received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with a minor in Quantitative Methodology from Kent State University in 2017. He has been extensively involved in MMPI research, primarily in medical settings.
Dr. Marek’s program of research is focused on understanding how psychological factors (typically assessed with the MMPI) contribute to medical outcomes. He currently has over 60 peer-reviewed publications mostly focused on pre-surgical psychological evaluations, MMPI instruments, and how they predict various outcomes. Dr. Marek uses his research to help patients manage risk factors prior to and after surgery to help them achieve good outcomes. He has been recognized by a few international and national organizations who have awarded him early-career research awards for his work in pre-surgical psychological evaluations. He is also the lead author of the book pertaining to presurgical evaluations.
Dr. Marek’s clinical practice involves supervision of assessment and therapy at Sam Houston State University’s Psychological Services Clinic. He also has a private practice where he conducts presurgical psychological evaluations, disability evaluations, workers’ compensation and pension evaluations, and general psychological evaluations for adults.
Dr. Martin Sellbom is a Professor in Clinical Psychology at the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand. He received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 2007 from Kent State University. His research focuses on psychopathy and other personality disorders, the integration of personality and psychopathology, and personality assessment with the MMPI instruments. Professor Sellbom's work has been featured in over 300 publications with three books, including Introducing the MMPI-3 (co-authored with Yossef Ben-Porath). He has won several awards, including the American Psychological Foundation’s Theodore Millon mid-career award for advancing personality science, American Psychology-Law Society’s Saleem Shah Award and Society for Personality Assessment’s Samuel and Anne Beck Award for early career achievement. Professor Sellbom serves as the Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Personality Assessment. For his clinical practice, he specializes in forensic psychological evaluations.
Dr. Dustin Wygant is a Professor of Psychology and Program Director of clinical training at Eastern Kentucky University, where he also serves as the Executive Director of Integrated Behavioral Health. He has a long history of MMPI research and has contributed to the MMPI-3 literature. He has co-authored a book on the MMPI-2-RF on forensic applications. He is a recipient of both the John Exner and Samuel and Anne Back awards from SPA. Dr. Wygant is a Fellow of the Society of Personality Assessment and the American Psychological Association. In addition to his academic career, Dr. Wygant regularly conducts forensic mental health assessments and testifies as an expert witness.
